BAKU – History is neither dead nor past. With Europe back in the headlines, George Friedman’s Flashpoints: The Emerging Crisis in Europe underscores the dormant forces in the European continent. Thought-provoking as ever, the study draws heavily from history to reveal a fascinating geopolitical examination and the revival of old quarrels.

It sounds like he's stating the obvious i.e. Russia is a threat to the Baltics and Eastern Europe. Also, he's saying NATO is hesitant when dealing with a nuclear power (Russia) that rivals the USA in nuclear might – of coarse they are careful. Even the US is careful when dealing with North Korea and they only have a handful of nukes. You don't have to be a history scholar or a Stratfor analyst to know any of this.
Friedman, what an ..Sirvan you made a great mistake to take him in your Review, make him more importend the he ever can be. But We undestand that you need money,he payed you well it seems.
Shirvan you are ten time better then he ever be able.
I would like to believe that the human spirit can overcome the limitations of geography and that our cultures and societies are not merely a product of our location.
It's an interesting perspective and it does have some merit, but ultimately it's too simplistic to be an accurate model for the world.
I watch both Stratfor and Caspian Report for an interesting balance of geopolitical news.
What do you think about Michael Pettis and his book "The Great Rebalancing"? Peter Zeihan once said that Pettis was one of his sources
Ha interestingly useless.
I loved the Copernicus part.
Kongo, "Don't push me cuz i'm close to the edge"
Friedman's geopolitical analyses are crap. If that's the stuff he charges for his Stratfor clients someone is better off getting his intel from the guy at the supermarket counter.
zionist warmonger….
Friedman is a cocksucker…
Jewish first, Hungarian second…. Almost like the whole idea of 'dual loyalty' is absurd.
Crazy how many 'dual citizens' we have in the US government right? No wonder Israel gets whatever it wants (including billions of American tax dollars just for being our so called greatest ally) while we get to fight their enemies for them! What a deal!
geopolitics of ukraine!
Please review Martin Meridith's Fortunes of Africa and The State of Africa
George Friedman claims to be a Jew & yet his name is not Jewish. How funny !!! Why does he live in Europe & U.S ??? Maybe because he doesn't have a homeland.
Europeans shall never fight one another again
Will depressing US LNG gas prices reduce the effectiveness of FSU expansion?
Geopolitical lines, religions, political parties, race, dogmas, and governments, ALL man made constructs and monuments in perpetuity to our ignorance. And the government "misleaders" who don't recognize this and govern accordingly, Putin, Trump, Maduro, and other despots, are the MOST ignorant amongst us.
(((Friedman))) cough, cough
4:30 The fact that peace and (partial) prosperity prevailed in Europe between 1945 and 1989 cannot be attributed to the EU. Europe was divided by two superpowers who could simply ban war in their respective spheres of power. On the contrary, the euro is increasingly dividing northern and southern Europe. And the question of the forced distribution of "refugees" and NATO policy is increasingly dividing Eastern and Western Europe. And a trend reversal is not in sight.
You should read "and the weak suffer what they must" by Yanis Varoufakis.
"Russia's push West" How about NATO's push East sine the 1990's. Unfortunately, it might take the passing way of the Cold War generation of Geopolitical analysts to realize Russia has traditionally been a Reactionary power. The West should take that fact into account when developing strategies or continue to be embarrassed.
At 7.19, "Russia's rational interest to push West, to Minimise the threat from Nato". There is the pressure point: back off from Russia's borders and trying to recruit Ukraine and Russia might feel less threatened! There are more communists in Cambridge than in Russia now. We need to update the politicians and treat Russia like a rational partner.
Please review the book "Asia Reborn"
Behavior of european nations you say, the return to old flash points and the unchanging geography and sentiments of the nations peoples against eachother may make the repeat inevitable you say? Maybe refugees are a peace promoting element in this equation? You know old sentiments returning between eu nations being an identified point and all? Bring in a compiled total of 10-20% new foreign people and voila! Old sentiments solved right? Man never thought id say it, immigrants and refugees bring peace between european nation states even unites them in their nationalistic prejeduced fervor. we re seeing that take place already. Is this why the globalist billionaires of europe want mass migrations? I can go on drawing conclusions upon this topic all night, thank you dear StratFor.
Friedman's thinking of how nations operate, can be summed up with a quote "'We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow." -Henry Temple.
Why doesn't it surprise me that this dumb Jew wants the EU to collapse and Russia to get a more central role in Geopolitics?
He bases his geopolitical view on what he thinks will sell well. Not based on the most likely analysis.
George is awesome. Wish I could find more speaking engagements that he gives.
this analysis assume Europe is like center of the world, while just saudi Arabia is bigger than Europe and now got more influence by having a hand on the pulse of over billion people all over the world. Europe is dying and is holding on by still forcing Africa and other middle eastern countries as its colonies, but sooner or later Europe will lose them to and will become 2rd world garbage
A Jew telling the history of Europe…
The crisis in Europe is caused by the unwanted inflow of massive numbers of muslims and Africans.
The Europeans will soon have to fight a war to retake their homelands and expel the invaders.
Please do something on Venezuela, great video!!
0:13 I'm in this city right now! 😄
Friedman is not even observing, he's just hypothesizing in the book. While EU is by no means a waterproof structure, it does serves at least one purpose to all its members. And I men all of them. It is extremely easy to break out of EU if you don't care what happens next. Should you want to preserve something close to the status quo while being out is a different story. Brexit is a god send for everyone showing what you can gain and lose being in or out of EU. There will be other developments but if hsitory teaches anything is to totally discard future predictions from Stratfor. I can give examples : The Next Decade, The Next 100 Years (granted that's a long timeline but nothing came out of it where they predict breakup of Russia and China in 2020). Stratfor is, to put it mildly, just fear porn. It sells.
This is how Germany stands against Russia's expansion 😂: https://youtu.be/9mRxSttJnDI
>a jew who admints his feelings of zionism
>argues about our total submission to georgaphy while not taking into account scientific research
>argues russia would be capable of "asserting" over east europe despite their shitty ethnic demographics low economic growth and frankly low return if they did so.
>ignors the fact that Europe could become in a decade independent from Russia energetically through shell gas
>implies the vital influence of the US the granter of israel
this book is a collection of zionistic rethorics
To invade and annex Crimea? People of Crimea joined RF on referendum, majority of them wanted it. That doesn't sound like invasion nor anexation to me. Deal with it.
What the hell is George Bush junior's brother doing here. His advice will be worse than his brothers. They both are war criminals.
Why is this channel so much anti European Union?
I'm sorry but the age of military conflict is coming to an end. We have become so interconnected through the internet, a global feeling of community is emerging. Conflicts are only cultural and the United States has achieved victory in that aspect, not through the armed forces, but through media.
Where is the argument? I'm 5 minutes in and haven't heard anything.
I trust geopolitics you tubers like Caspian and MoFreedomFoundation more than I trust big geopolitical think tanks
George Friedman said the rise of Poland's economy was because it is in NATO which is WHORE SHIT.
Poland rose because it receives billions of handouts from the EU (while countries like Greece starves)
here we go again its not Western push East but its East pushing West wich is quiet one sided and shallow approach t presenting things there is reason for everything but hey lets juts oversimplify and put it as braindead as possible
No mention of the expansion of Nato. No mention of the unilateral US withdrawal of Nuclear Arms Control Treaty and the installation of missile sites in Poland and Romania. George Friedman has a bias Zionist view. He arranges facts to fit his view and omits fact that don't fit.
